Immunize Canada and Vaccine Ambassadors are teaming up this August in celebration of National Immunization Awareness Month. This annual event, initiated by the CDC, serves to highlight the importance of immunizations throughout the lifespan.
This year takes on a special meaning, as the world grapples with an infectious pandemic for which we currently have no vaccine. Unfortunately, during the past several months we have seen a decline in routine immunizations rates as a result. Optimizing the health through vaccination will be paramount as we continue efforts to contain this virus. Therefore, our messaging will focus on the importance of maintaining immunizations during the COVID-19 pandemic to protect the individual, community and fragile healthcare systems that are taking on unprecedented challenges.
The campaign will commence in August, and will be a timely reminder of the value of vaccines as we head into the fall flu season. Increasing uptake of the flu vaccine this year will be more important than ever.
