In the current climate of COVID-19 it is more important than ever to ensure the protection of older adults, and those with underlying chronic conditions, against vaccine preventable diseases. Maximizing uptake of existing vaccines for respiratory diseases, such as influenza and pneumococcal pneumonia, reduces the annual burden of disease – including increased mortality, morbidity and healthcare costs – particularly in at-risk populations.
As the coronavirus grips the world, we have seen many casualties. The most obvious and heart-breaking are the lives lost to the Covid-19 pandemic. The fallout has been felt personally and collectively and the ripple effect will continue to play out in our daily lives in unexpected ways.
We are excited to announce that Vaccine Ambassadors has been chosen as a recipient of the 2020 Spring UNC Rho Chapter of Alpha Phi Omega’s Philanthropy Grant for our work to protect children and families from vaccine preventable diseases.
